PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

TRIMBLE NAVIGATION, Chantilly, VA [2010 – 2015]

Lead Engineer (Trimble Hosting Services)                                                        2012 - 2015

Manage the technical relationship with Construction Logistics division of Trimble, an internal customer of THS. This includes incident and risk management, availability reporting, architecture and design, and program and project management.

  • Currently designing improvements for systems and processes that will improve application availability and have a positive impact on delivery.
  • Successfully completed a project to migrate customer stacks to a new datacenter and virtual environment.
  • Provide automation tools and processes to streamline deployments and management for the customer.
  • Review and modify monitoring to increase automation (self-healing), reduce false-positives, and clarify alerts and troubleshooting/escalation documentation.

 

Sr. Systems Engineer (Trimble Hosting Services)                                            2010-2012

Focused mostly on architecture and design.

  • Designed, implemented and managed the virtual infrastructure worldwide, implemented standardization and automation processes for this virtual infrastructure.
  • Designed and built datacenters in the UK. Created cable management and labelling standards at this time.
  • Implemented VMware LabManager, then vCloud director to provide self-service virtualization for the development and QA teams.

 

 

 

COSTAR GROUP, Bethesda, MD

Sr. Systems Engineer                                                                                                2005 - 2010

Implemented full monitoring for the enterprise with a focus on automation:

  • Acted as co-project manager for the move of the company's primary datacenter into a collocation facility; designed the physical network infrastructure, rack layout and power usage and management.
  • Designed and implemented enterprise-wide monitoring for all company systems, databases, network infrastructure and applications, using NetIQ AppManager, HP SiteScope, BAC, Real User Monitor, and Business Process Monitor.
  • Wrote and integrated custom applications for monitoring and alerting as well as for scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Developed scripts and application to improve the efficiency of the team, automate redundant or recurring administration tasks and provide more customized monitoring and alerting.
  • Supported Costar ASP.NET and C# applications; implemented automation for application releases.

 

 

 

AMERICA ONLINE, Dulles, VA

Technical Support Engineer                                                                                    2001 - 2005

Acted as manager of team in transitional times:

  • Successful growth of the team from supporting 8 applications to support of over 40 applications.
  • Improved batch processing success rate from less than 90% to 99.5%.
